As on the expected lines, England were too good for Zimbabwe in the one-off Test as they thrashed the African side by an innings & 45 runs to win the first and only Test on day three of the Nottingham Test. The visitors started the day three still over 200 runs adrift with only eight wickets in hand. Sean Williams (88) runs was the only batter to offer resistance and deny England and innings win.
Williams was well supported by Sikandar Raza, who scored a fighting (60) runs. However, the visitors were always trailing. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir was the pick of the England bowlers as he picked up six wickets in just 16 overs. The tall spinner was difficult to get away, as he found spin and bounce on a pretty good sporting wicket in Nottingham.

It was his spell that blew Zimbabwe away. However, the visitors can be proud of the fact that they almost made England bat again. If any of the other top order had given company to Williams, then Zimbabwe would have been in a realistic chance of making England bat again. Alas, that was not to be as the hosts showed all their class and experience.
England kick off a massive home summer with a thumping win
On account of this thumping win, England would be feeling a world of good. With India series next to be played, the side will be mighty pleased with the form shown by Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope.
