England vs India 2nd Test, Match Preview
There is assurance in the England camp with them having entrusted faith in the same XI to do the job for them at Edgbaston. They chased 371 last week and is even ready to chase even 450 this week, as Harry Brook said in an interview. There is confidence within the group with the players knowing their responsibilities very well. While all the talk was about Indian bowlers failing to pick up wickets, credit has to be given to England for pacing their chase brilliantly in the second half.
Warning bells have already run in the Indian camp. There are plenty of changes expected within the Indian setup. There were reports of Kuldeep Yadav being given a game in the second Test. However, as per the latest reports from Birmingham, the management is looking to give Washington Sundar a game ahead of Kuldeep. Jasprit Bumrah is almost sure to be rested in the second Test. However, Ryan Ten Doeschate, the assistant coach, has said that a call on him will be taken before the game.
There are changes expected in the batting lineup as well. There are talks of Nitish Kumar Reddy's inclusion in the side. It will be interesting to see who replaces him. Shardul Thakur was rather ordinary apart from his two wickets in the first Test. He disappointed with the bat as well. Meanwhile, Deep Dasgupta has thrown in a case where Reddy can replace Sai Sudharshan in the lineup and thereby extending India's batting till eight. Arshdeep Singh is another potential candidate to get a look in. Thus, there are lot of conundrums regarding the XI India are going to play.
