Shubman Gill Scaling Batting Charts
Gill and Rahul's good work was continued by Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar who scored individual centuries and added 203 runs together to help India finish on 425 runs for four wickets from being 0/2 at one stage.
Sanjay Manjrekar and Steve Harminson has hailed the Indian skipper for showing great determination and focus with the bat so far batting the Lord’s Test. Gill, with 722 runs so far, is standing just 16 runs behind Joe Root's 737-run tally in the 2021 series to become the highest run-getter for India in a Test series in England.
Speaking to Jio Star, Sanjay Manjrekar hailed Shubman Gill for not allowing the team to feel the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
"Rohit Sharma was averaging 10 in the last two series that he played, and Virat Kohli was averaging 30 in the last five years. So they were perhaps not easy to replace, but it wasn't like it was a huge loss. It was a loss of two very senior players, but not a loss of contribution, because they weren't contributing as much," he said.

Would Have Been Very Different Scenario: Jonathan Trott
Meanwhile, former England batter Jonathan Trott, who was a part of the discussion, felt that the scenario would have been different had England faced the same situation.
"If you're taking the Joe Root out of the side or taking two experienced players like India have had to retire recently, it would be a very, very different scenario. I think India have given a great account of themselves. They've kept the series alive, and it's certainly interesting to see the mood in the bus on the England bus when it goes down to London compared to the Indian bus on the way down to London” said Trott.
