She Is Stable - Akash Deep On His Sister's Health Condition
Though Akash Deep was not awarded the Man of the Match for his efforts, many people believed that he should have won it ahead of Shubman Gill who scored a double hundred and a hundred in the same Test.
The Bengal Pacer dedicated his efforts with the ball to his ailing sister who has been suffering from cancer. He announced the same in his post-match interaction with Sony Sports.
"I have not told this to anyone. My elder sister has been suffering from cancer for the last two months," said Deep after the match to the official broadcasters.
"She is now stable, and she is fine. I think she will be the happiest on seeing my performance. I want to dedicate this match to her. I want to see a smile on her face" he added.
Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj shared 17 wickets between them as India won their very first Test match at Edgbaston in nine attempts. With Akash Deep taking six wickets, the likes of Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar picked up a wicket each in the second innings.
