Rishabh Pant, India's vice-captain of this young Test team is at the risk of being reprimanded by the ICC after his recent act on day 3 of the Headingley Test match.

India, despite taking wickets, have leaked runs almost throughout the day's play as England have inched closer to going past India's total of 471.

The Test match has shifted balance with the Indian bowlers allowing the England batters to score quick runs. In between, the dropped catches have aided England's cause. The Indian bowlers have also given a lot of extras which has also aided the England batters while leaving the Indian bowlers and the Indian team frustrated.

One such moment of frustration came in the 61st over of England's innings when India's request to change the ball was denied by the on-field umpires. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and also Jasprit Bumrah advocated for a change of ball which was rejected by  Paul Reiffel. However, that brought out a reaction from Pant which might eventually land him up in trouble in the ongoing Test series going forward.

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri who was on commentary, pointed out that the Indian players looked increasingly frustrated with the ball not being changed, which worked against the team as well.

"When you start wanting to change the ball every now and then, it's a clear indication that nothing's happening. We want something to happen. And that was frustration from Pant," said Ravi Shastri in the commentary.
"I'm not sure there was any need for that. (We) know that he's a showman and part of that is probably in order to get a reaction from the crowd, but I'm not sure Paul Reiffel appreciated it very much," Mark Butcher, his co-commentator, replied.

Is Rishabh Pant At Risk

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is at the risk of breaching two ICC Code of Conduct articles following his expressions. The first violation is Article 2.8 for showing dissent at an umpire's decision, which could be charged as either a Level 1 or Level 2 offense. The second offense is  Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits "throwing a ball at or near an umpire in an inappropriate manner."  This also carries Level 1 and Level 2 sanctions.
