Shubman Gill, the newly appointed Indian Test skipper has found himself in an unwanted controversy ahead of the Test series against England. The controversy has surfaced in the most unusual way possible.

Gill made a move from Ceat to MRF as he joined the likes of Indian greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to used MRF bats. Gill has been using the MRF bat since the Champions Trophy and he used it all the way through to the IPL.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill's MRF bat has been in the news because of what is written on the willow. There is a sticker on his bat that says "Prince" which has drawn a lot of criticism on social media.

Previously, MRF welcomed Shubman Gill to their family by announcing the association with him via a statement.

“With legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Brian Lara having graced the iconic MRF bat, Shubman Gill now carries forward this tradition, inspiring the next generation of cricketers," MRF wrote while announcing the collaboration before the semi-final of the Champions Trophy earlier this year.

Gill's MRF bat sticker was once again in the news. The BCCI recently released pictures of the photoshoots of the Indian players and Gill's bat has drawn a lot of flak on social media as it has "Prince" written on it.

The Twitterverse criticised the Indian skipper for having that word engraved on his bat. The fans said that though Sachin was known as "God" and Kohli as "King" none of them had written anything on their MRF bats directly comparing Gill with the modern greats.
