The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is almost 90% set to decline the white-ball series tour to Sri Lanka in August. India was set to play six white-ball matches against the Island nation in mid-August. However, due to political reasons, the BCCI has declined to tour Sri Lanka.

The highly anticipated series, which would have likely seen the stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in August, will be delayed until October. India is set to play a white-ball series Down Under against Australia in October. As per reports from Sports Tak, BCCI has confirmed the white-ball tour to the Island nation is not going as per schedule.

"We will decide about the series, but it looks unlikely," A BCCI source confirmed when quizzed about India's next white-ball matches.

Attention shifts to the Asia Cup 2025 with the likely cancellation of the Sri Lanka Tour

With the Sri Lanka series set to be cancelled, the focus now shifts to the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 event, set to start from September 05. This time's Continental Cup will be played in a T20 format. Following the high-profile event, India will host Australia for three ODIS in October and South Africa for another three ODIs from November 25. The cancelled Bangladesh tour has been rescheduled to September 2026.

With the T20 World Cup 2026 just seven months away, India are set to focus more on T20Is. They are also the defending champions of the global event.
