Former Bangladesh skipper Aminul Islam was appointed as the 16th President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday, May 30. This happened after a panel of eight BCB directors voted in favour of Faruque Ahmed's removal from his position.
The Move came up after the government informed Faruque Ahmed that they are not interested in continuing with him as the President. Farque was informed about the decision by Youth and Sports Affairs Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan on Wednesday, May 28.
The reason behind Faruque's removal as the previous BCB President was that he bypassed the management and the senior officials in key administrative and financial matters.

Don't Know The Exact Role I Will Be Offered - Animul Islam
Now with Aminul Islam becoming the new BCB President, he is keen to host a free and fair election, which is scheduled in October. Further, as per reports in Cricbuzz, he has also said that he has no interest in fighting the next election as he is keen to set things right in the next five months in the lead-up upto the elections.
"My primary goal is to hold a transparent election and create the best cricket board. That's it. I'm not interested in running in the next election, The government asked me, and I said yes. Now it's just a matter of following the process. "I've always been involved in the development of cricket. As I've said before, I never had the opportunity to work in this capacity before. This is the first time I've received an official offer, and I didn't say 'no.' Simple as that-that's the first point," Aminul told Cricbuzz on Thursday.
The former Bangladesh skipper further said that he is keen to focus on the task at hand. He said that he is not yet sure the role that he will be offered but will try to complete any task he is given with utmost honesty.
"I don't know anything officially yet about the exact role I'll be offered. Since I'm not fully familiar with the board's constitution, I think if I'm appointed as a counselor by the National Sports Council (NSC) and they grant me directorship, then it will be up to the board directors to elect me as the BCB president," he said.
The newly-appointed BCB President said that he spoke to the office bearers in the ICC regarding his recent appointment and they said he was free to go. He even said that the ICC was ready to give him an indefinite leave of absence.
"The ICC told me, 'you're free. You can go and work there (in Bangladesh) for as long as you need. You can come back anytime. The door is always open for you.' I'm grateful to the ICC for giving me the green signal to go ahead, even though I'm currently the only member of the Asia team."
