Rishabh Pant Injury Update: Sanjiv Goenka Sends Heartfelt Message

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka shared a message for Rishabh Pant as the latter got injured on Day 1 of the fourth Test between India and England. Taking to social media ahead of Day 2, Goenka offered words of encouragement for the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, calling him a "fighter" and expressing confidence in his recovery.

Pant, who was batting fluently at Old Trafford, suffered a painful injury while attempting a reverse sweep against England pacer Chris Woakes. The incident occurred during the 68th over of India’s first innings. The delivery took an inside edge and struck Pant’s right foot.

Despite receiving immediate medical attention on the field, Rishabh Pant’s condition did not improve. The physio was seen treating a swollen and bloodied foot before the left-hander was taken off the ground on a medical cart. He did not return to bat for the remainder of the day and reportedly has been ruled out for six weeks.

Rishabh Pant Ruled Out, Ishan Kishan Set to Return

According to The Indian Express, scans later confirmed that Pant had suffered a toe fracture and would be ruled out of action for six weeks. The left-hander is now all but confirmed to miss the remainder of the England series.

"The scan report showed a fracture and he is ruled out for six weeks. The medical team is trying to see if he can come out to bat again by taking a pain killer. He still needs support to walk though and chances of his batting looks very bleak," a BCCI source said as quoted to The Indian Express.

Ishan Kishan, who has played only two Tests in his career, is set to be drafted in for the fifth match scheduled at The Oval, starting July 31. Kishan last played a Test in July 2023 but recently impressed in English conditions while playing for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship.

He scored 164 runs in two innings, averaging 82 and notching up two fifties.
