The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a surprise tour to Sri Lanka in August, following the postponement of the Bangladesh tour, which was reportedly rescheduled for September 2026, according to reports.
BCCI Eyes Sri Lanka Tour After Bangladesh Postponement
It is believed that the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket have begun discussions to host a short white-ball tour consisting of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs in August.

India last toured Sri Lanka in 2024, right after the end of the T20 World Cup. The World Champions clinched the T20 series, while Sri Lanka stunned India by winning the ODI series. Notably, that series marked Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as head coach of India.

If this new series is finalized, Sri Lanka will have a packed August, as they’re also scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for a bilateral series starting on August 29. Currently, they’re hosting Bangladesh for a multi-format tournament. Sri Lanka has already defeated the Tigers in both the ODI and Test formats, with the T20I series set to begin on Thursday, July 10 .

Kohli and Rohit Could Return in August ODIs
