Rohit Sharma is likely to visit the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on September 13 to take part in fitness tests before India’s white-ball tour of Australia. As reported by The Times of India, the ODI skipper will go through routine checks such as the Yo-Yo and Bronco tests, which will decide whether he is cleared to return to international cricket.

The 38-year-old has been away from competitive action since IPL 2025. His last appearance for India came in March when he played the Champions Trophy final. As the three-match ODI series against Australia starts on October 19, the BCCI wants to make sure Rohit is fully match-ready.

Rohit Sharma has been preparing in Mumbai under the guidance of former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, who is also his close friend.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Likely to Feature in India A Series

As per the report, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s COE for 2-3 days from September 13 and will prepare for the ODI series Down Under.

"Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November," a source said as quoted to TOI.
"With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility," the source added.

Moreover, both Rohit and Virat Kohli could be seen playing for India A later next month. The two stalwarts are likely to feature in a three-match one-day series against Australia A, scheduled from September 30 at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium.

Uncertain Road Ahead for Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli in ODIs

Rohit and Kohli are still the biggest names in India’s one-day side but there is uncertainty over how long they will continue in the format. Both had quit T20 internationals last year and announced their retirement from Tests earlier this year.

Now, ODIs remain their only focus, which makes every series important for the two senior batters as India build towards the 2027 World Cup.
